Johnny Reed was the Voice of KING KONG and all the creatures on Skull Island in the toys, games, promotions & Ringtones in conjuctions with the film. Johnny Reed created the blue sky concepts for the Soundscapes that would be used by UNIVERSAL PICTURES® and their partners.

The PROJECT Back Story
The Start - BLUE SKY Concepts
Johnny Reed was brought in to do Blue Sky concepts and potential interactive soundscape ideas for the upcoming KING KONG film project merchandising including Toy, Games, Advertising and Promotions. The project was so hush hush that when Johnny asked Universal Pictures for a film trailer or pictures or script notes Universal refused to release anything. They told Johnny "Just use your instincts that you have proven to us and come up with the Sounds".
Johnny used his own voice to create the Roars of KING KONG, T-rex’s, Raptors, Brontosaurus, Crocosaur, Swamp Beast, Bat Creature, Crab Spider, Monkeys, Birds, Mutant Insects, Natives and even Fay Wray (Anne Darrow) screaming. Johnny is thankful for the help of Matt Warner who has assisted Johnny in many projects over the years.
The Process gets ahead of the film...
Universal Pictures brought the concepts to the New York Toy Fair and the response from the closely held presentation were overwhelming.
Universal had originally planned to go with director Peter Jackson's film sounds, but Peter's film wasn't finished and the distributors loved Johnny's work. Now, Peter Jackson had a decision to make, he would have to approve the sounds himself to represent the sounds from the film if it was to happen. Johnny was put in direct communication with Peter Jackson to review each sound. Peter requested "Make the KONG more Alpha Male sounding".... "Make the V-REX's more Alpha Male too". Johnny used his instincts and Peter Jackson approved everything Johnny did and the rest is history.
All Original Sounds - no Library sounds were used
All the Sounds are original, no Library sounds were used. The Voice of King Kong is Johnny Reed, layers on layers of Johnny's Voice... No Lions, No Dolphins or other Animals, just Johnny. Johnny voiced the various Dinosaurs & Creatures giving each a unique special character. The Jungle sounds, Breaking bones... Lettuce, Rocks, Seashells, Leather Couchs, Leather Guitar Straps... this was creativity in it's highest fun forms.

Johnny Reed is the producer and creator of KING KONG ringtones called KONGTONES ® sounds of KING KONG ® Battles between the V-REX’s, Breaking bones, Screams, The RAPTORS, Native Voices, Fay Wray like Screams (Anne Darrow) & the Jungle Drums are in these ringtones. The KONGTONES are actually mini sound tracks conceived by producer Johnny Reed and approved by the legendary film maker Peter Jackson to represent the sounds of the awesome film KING KONG " the 8th Wonder of the World" released by UNIVERSAL PICTURES ® in all merchandising efforts.
