The “VISION”
John Reed (MRP) was the Consultant with Tom Conroy, and Shock Wave Entertainment, to James Cameron in the design and implementation of the Remote Film Editing Network specifically designed for the Movie 'TITANIC'. Due to the complex nature of the film’s Mexico Pool site and all the concerned partners in the project, Jim Cameron wanted something new, creative and efficient for the film’s production & editing… James had a vision.
The “MISSION”
The mission was to connect James' Cameron's home in Malibu, with his production company 'LightStorm Entertainment' in Santa Monica, and with 'Digital Domain' his special effects house in Playa Vista, CA, along with Stan Winston, his partner in animatronic effects, and finally with the 'Baja Studios' Titanic film pool site in Rosarito Beach, Mexico.
The “DESIGN”
Multi-Point Video teleconferencing with Film Editing capabilities for frame-by-frame evaluation & discussions by any-and-all of the attached partner sites in real time. Anything, Anywhere, Anytime 24/7.
The Network Concept Graphic prepared by John Reed for the project depicts the proposed connectivity.

Tom Conroy recuited John Reed & MRP to assist SHOCKWAVE Entertainment for the project "TITANIC".

This was Mexico, 1996, Rosarito Beach, a rural area...."I remember watching the very early construction and seeing a large area with re-bar waiting for concrete. When I asked where are the trucks? I was told it would be filled by buckets by hand" Wow, this was really rural construction techniques for sure!" - John Reed

By placing the TITANIC in a "POOL" next to the Shoreline, Cinematographers could shoot across it to capture the real ocean, the sunsets and real weather events. Mexico was perfect for the job.
